Lasting Traces é uma banda alemã de hardcore melódico. A banda teve um bom início de carreira lançando o primeiro EP chamado “Portraits” em 2009 e em 2010 lançou um split com a banda Way Down, também da Alemanha. Mas estou aqui pra falar sobre seu novo álbum: "Old Hearts Break In Isolation".
Num cenário cada vez mais crescente que é a cena de hardcore melódico atual, eles conseguiram surpreender mostrando uma excelente identidade e qualidade de produção além da maturidade lírica.
A primeira faixa do álbum é "Lake Nowhere" e já começa com uma melodia característica da banda que logo se transforma numa explosão melódica acompanhada pela voz angustiada para gritar, continuando em uma canção que é um dos destaques do disco. Seguindo, temos a faixa "Old Hearts", com o refrão que dá nome ao disco, e "Pipe Dreams" que trazem um pique mais rápido. Na música "Resurrection" encontramos vocais melódicos (não gritados) nos refrões, coisa não habitual nesta cena, e que ainda termina ao som de violões acústicos. Continuando "Sailor's Grave" e "Confort In Solitude" são mais duas ótimas faixas que posso destacar pela harmonia entre velocidade e melodia. Em "The Lost Age" ouvimos já de início uma voz cheia de emoções que ainda grita por mais dois minutos até chegar num final intensamente lindo. "Intervention" é uma faixa sem muitas surpresas que precede a última música, chamada "Home Truth", que já inicia com toda intensidade que a banda tem para mostrar até que temos uma passagem mais calma que subitamente se transforma num final perfeito para o disco, sendo mais um destaque no álbum.
Sobre as letras, pude interpretar como sendo a história de alguém que saiu da sua juventude despreparado para a vida, com atitudes que levaram à decepções afetivas e chegando ao fim da vida pensa como as coisas poderiam ser diferentes mas ainda assim não se arrepende do que fez. Enfim, esta foi minha interpretação.
Um belo álbum cheio de emoção e intensidade. Para fãs de bandas como Long Life Tragedy, More Than Life e Reason to Care.

Lasting Traces is a melodic hardcore band from Germany. The band had a good career start releasing their first EP called "Portraits" in 2009, and in 2010 released a split album with the band Way Down, also from Germany. But I'm here to talk about Lasting Traces new album, "Old Hearts Break In Isolation".
In increasing scene as the melodic hardcore atual scene, they up with a surprising work, showing their identity, excelent production and lyrical maturity.
The first track on the album is "Lake Nowhere" and it begins with a characteristic melody of the band that soon becomes a melodic explosion coming with an anguished voice, continuing in a song that is one of the highlights of the disc. Following, we have the track "Old Hearts," with the chorus that carries the title of the album, and "Pipe Dreams" that bring a faster mood. In the song "Resurrection" we find melodic vocals (non-screaming) in the chorus, something unusual in this scene, and it still ends with the sound of acoustic guitars. Continuing "Sailor's Grave" and "Comfort In Solitude" are two more great tracks that I can highlight the harmony between speed and melody. In "The Lost Age" from the beginning we hear a voice full of emotions that still screaming out for another two minutes until it reach a final intensely beautiful. "Intervention" is another good song, but with no surprises, that precedes the last track called "Home Truth", which already starts with all the intensity that the band has to show up until we get quieter passage that suddenly becomes a perfect ending to the disc, so this is one more highlight in the album.
About the lyrics, I could interpret as being the story of someone who left their youth unprepared for life, with attitudes that led to emotional disappointments and coming to the end of life realize how thing could be different but still not regreting about what did. Anyway, this was my interpretation.
A great album full of emotion and intensity. For the fans of bands as Life Long Tragedy, More Than Life And Reason To Care
